1946 Regal I

After the war, AEC were keen to capture a good slice of the renewed demand for buses and coaches. The revamped Regal chassis O662/20 was originally going to be termed the "Mark II" until someone pointed out that that term had already been used for the 862/O862 version! So the publicity material was hastily (and none too subtly!) altered.
This brochure, dated Feb 1946, therefore was printed for the "Mark II" but that designation is covered over, as clearly seen here, to read "Mark I".
Incidentally, according to Dick Gilbert's Classic Buses website , the vehicle shown on the front cover, JO 2351, was delivered to City of Oxford in 1931 and bore a C28F Park Royal body.
Interesting, too, to find that Worth's Coaches of Enstone is still very much alive and flourishing! The company was founded in 1922.
